Breaking the vicious cycle – by Elaine Gottschall.
Contains excellent information on diet and lifestyle changes, based on a specific carbohydrate diet, which all the books here are based on, with variations. We are all different in how our bodies deal with diseases and different foods, what works for one person well may not be as effective for another.

Book Resources
Here are a few of the books that I have read and would rocommend.
The Autoimmune Solution – by Dr Amy Myers
Again based around the SCD, specific carc diet, she gives information on causes and factors linked to Crohn’s and Colitis. This also includes recipies, lifestyle changes and supplements for a future with no medications and a life with no or minimal flare ups! I personally believe in wholefood supplements, which these are not all based on. This will be a choice of your own, but I always vouch for supplements that are based on wholefood grown.

The Autoimmune Paleo Cookbook – by Mickey Trescott
A book created by Mickey, who actually suffers from autoimmune conditions herself. crohn’s and colitis are also classed as autoimmune conditions as are around 80 other illnesses. This book was created, so people with an autoimmune disease could eat a diet that is free of alergens. I have used a few recipies from this book and they do taste great! If I’m honest though, I don’t always use this book as I vary what I eat, based on what foods I can tolerate. I found this book through a website http://www.phoenixhelix.com which use the SCD diet. They have an excellent version that I started following, known as the AIP (Autoimmune Protocol). They have downloadable PDF’s that give info on what you can and can’t eat.
